Graham was the Assistant Engineer in the 1970’s and the Mill Engineer in the 80’s at the world famous South Crofty Tin Mine and so has a wealth of first hand experience of working underground as well as on the surface.
“In 2009 Graham gained his Associateship of the Royal Photographic Society with an evocative panel of mining heritage images called Relics and Ruins based on the sites we now visit with our students. He shares his photographic knowledge, expertise and first-hand experiences in such an engaging way which brings to life Cornish history as well as the camera. You will not only enjoy a day full of great photography but come away with an added enthusiasm for Cornwall’s unique role in the industrial revolution which changed the world.”
No doubt you’re familiar with the iconic sight of the distinctive ruined engine houses throughout Cornwall - there are a vast number of individual mines spread throughout the county, inland and on the coast. Certain areas have particular concentrations of sites which makes visits to them varied and interesting. We have a choice of 6 Districts - from the Caradon District in the East of the county to the St Just District in the far west including St Agnes, Redruth and Camborne and the Tregonning District where we hold our workshops.
