“Good photographers invariably have something worthwhile to say and develop distinctive photographic ways to visually communicate their ideas successfully. Year Three of our Portfolio Course is all about ‘Making Images’ not just taking images.
12 monthly 3 hour sessions
Portfolio One, Two and Three are stepping stones towards the LRPS designed to help photographers produce suitable images of a high enough standard to fit within a panel but, each Portfolio can be completed, and repeated if desired, purely for the pleasure of improving your photography. The amount of work expected from a photographer wishing to proceed towards the LRPS would naturally be greater than that undertaken by the enthusiast. There may be no initial intention or commitment to attempt the Distinction at the beginning but by the end your standard may be such that it becomes a possibility.
Sample Session - Event Photography Out on Location.
Visit to Mount Edgecumbe Country Park near Plymouth to photograph the Royal Horse Artillery at an event held within the grounds.
We asked for interesting images of the day using shallow depth of field and a sequence of images showing movement…
Students had short notice and needed to carefully select the appropriate equipment and have in mind some possible images they might take.
A Great day out!
Each monthly session continues with critique, practical and assignments set according to the needs of the group or individual.
Lighting techniques takes on an especially important role, exploring the appropriate use of both natural and artificial including continuous and flash.
Location and event based outings also play a part for gaining valuable hands on experience and exercising skills developed at the school.
Printing and presentation of the final photograph are a priority now.
This flexible student lead approach creates a bespoke programme tailored to suit the interests and direction of each photographer.
