1st Saturday of the Month - 10.00am to 3.00pm
When and where do we meet for The Forum?
We meet up on the first Saturday morning of every month usually at the school beginning at around 10.00am with a friendly cuppa and finish around 3.00pm.
Our venue at St Ingunger Country Offices, Bodmin, offers an inspirational interior full of possibilities with plenty of resources at hand, including a comprehensive selection of recommended photography books for research, a purpose built illuminated display wall to exhibit prints for review and analysis, space for setting up lighting, WiFi access and comfortable seating including formal lecture style, round table discussion and individual relaxation areas.
What do we do at The Forum?
We are proud to say that what we do every month is different. Our itinerary for the day might include a trip either by car or train to photograph a landscape or event - in the past we’ve ventured from Plymouth in the East to Penzance in the west as well as many familiar local places in between. Alternatively we might plan the day indoors doing practical projects; we might include a debate about a subject to do with photography and have enjoyed hosting many lively thought provoking discussions. Sharing our images as a group is also a high priority - displaying a group of prints all taken at the same location is fascinating and revealing - constructive comments and informed critique always available.
“Putting aside a little time just for you and your camera once a month is a great idea and spending time with a small group of other like minded people is a really good way for you enjoy your hobby to the full and share your love of photography. This is precisely why we started The Forum.”
Why you should join us at The Forum.
If you were to ask any of our photographers why they attend The Forum they’ll talk most enthusiastically about having something interesting arranged every month that they can dip into if they want, be it a practical topic or an outing. Then there is catching up with and making new friends. They’ll also mention being able to ask for advice about technique/equipment as being really useful and having the opportunity to see lots of other people’s work. For us, well mainly we just enjoy taking photos like you and organising The Forum lets us share our own enthusiasm with a group of photographers on a project which we find interesting and inspiring. It is a time for us all to explore together and refresh our creativity.
If this sounds like something you’d like to be involved with put the next date in your diary and if you’re free give it a try.
If you’d like to know what’s planned for the next meeting first please contact us with your email details and we’ll be happy to include you on our mailing list.
“Thank you for a wonderful day at Charlestown…This was my first Forum and I am hooked. I can’t believe I have to wait a whole month for the next one!”
“As usual, I sigh and hang my head with Graham’s ideas when we go out and about - and then I grip my camera and set to…But I do love the challenge - of course!! After 3 years participation, I have learnt so much from Graham and Lynn - thank you both. Can’t wait for our next adventure…
